i guess this is a bit random..
pray for my mother...
MY gosh TODAy i had one of those UNEXPECTED OppORTUNITIES where Mum was just like.. "Okay look yeh Jesus was a man, i need more evidence im not so gulliable. ANd you are RIGHT there is a GOd, everyone will know there is MOORE to life than just what we see. So yeh there must be a force soo WHat?!"
ANd i replied a bit like this "It says in the bible everyone is born knowing there is a GOd, coz the world around us proves of his existence." (Mum nods in aggreement) "And there IS evidence proving Jesus who he is and he's existence, theres even more proof of the existence of JEsus than there is Julius Caesar"
Mum:"yeh ok he lived.. so what?"
And yeh basically told her about the prophesizes made thousand of years ago about Jesus all fulfilled by him and what he did for uS.. IT was STRANGE coz it seemed as if this was the first time she heard about Jesus's life, when I had always thought she had heard it before,.. SO maybe not..
AND StrangeLY shee seemed so sad when i told hEr how Jesus said "Father forgive them for they know not what they do" as he died on the Cross by our HANDS. ANd was soo upsetted by what i told her about Jesus's sacrifice that she even asked "WHY did God HAVE to kill him then!?" annD Yehh just kept talking and explaining the best i could.. HAHHA ThouGH it was hard coz I learnt everything in English, and read the Bible in English, so translating it into canto was a bit TOUGH for an ABC like ME HAHAHA!
Ohh well in the end I dont thnk she totally understood, but i think its a GOOD beggining! I know from talking to her that she has this concept that a HUMAN soul is ENERGY like CHI energy, and over time you use up all ure CHI and then the soul disappears forever and then you die and FADE into NOTHING... HAha actually that dun make sense coz WOULDNT it mean if i meditate and SUCK in MORE CHI my CHI will never run out and ID live forever MUHAHAHAHA.. anyways...
MY NEXt challenge would be to hopefully go through the Gospel of MARK with her! Coz I KNOW GOd's WORD HOLDs POWER and no one confronted by the truth of the Gospel can NOT respond..
PS: Though this isnt really ALL that AMAZING i just thought it WAS coz I never talk to my mum and our relationship is not that great, due to cultural clashes and different ideas on spirituality.

HEY JADE!
that's so great that you're mum asked you about it and that you were confident and competent enough to her so much about God and what Jesus has done for us! and even though your relationship with your mum may not be that good, keep it up because God IS powerful and can do amazing and even unpredictable things through!

I thoroughly echo Kim's comments...hang in there sister! The important thing which i often forget it to PRAY!
it sounds like God is softening your mum's heart so lets continue to pray for her and that there might be more opportunities to share with her you faith.
On a side note, there are opportunities for fluent cantonese speakers/minister to explain the gospel to your mum :)

Hi Jade!
WOW That's AWESOME that your mum was able to hear some of those things for the first time. I think its great that she could sense that feeling of "Why did God have to punish Jesus like that?" I think sometimes if we have heard thte gospel a lot, we forgot how crazy a concept that is, how bizarre and costly for Jesus and how amazing and wonderful it is for us...
Will be praying for her - will she be coming to your baptism tomorrow?
